A beginners guide to free cryptocurrencies

I was requested to expand on my comment of how I showed my friend to get free cryptocurrency. I use the word "free" as "not having to directly buy crypto with fiat money."

You won't make a ton of crypto early on, but if you get in with the right tokens, it could be worth a lot more in the future.

Here are seven ways that I can think of that should open the doors for many beginners before they dump in hundreds of dollars into meme coins or pump and dump coins. I won't include Staking because that assumes you have a lot of coins and you're essentially investing. This guide is more for people starting out who don't want to risk anything.

1. Faucets (tiny amount)

There are faucets for many coins. These are mainly used for testing a new address if you're paranoid that you might not have the correct address. These are also used for more advanced tests by developers which is outside the scope of this post.

Just Google "coin name + faucet" and you can enter your wallet address for free coins. These pay out very little, and they are limited to how much you can get per time period. If you are a creative mind, you could find a way to automate this (think like a lazy programmer). A python script would be a simple option.

2. Airdrops (potentially great gains)

If you haven't heard of the famed Uniswap airdrop by now, you should do a quick search on how many Redditors ended up with ~$8000 of UNI coins simply for using Uniswap during the promotion. You normally have to meet a simple goal, and the creators give you free coins in hopes of incentivizing the new coin.

Currently, there is an "Airdrip" that I'm participating in for BALANCED coins. You just have to have ICX tokens in a wallet that you own your private keys to, or have it on ICONfi or another verified storage. There is also a BANANO airdrop which is similar, but for NANO wallets. There are new airdrops appearing frequently, so keep your ears open for news.

3. Coinbase Earn (it'll get you about $10-50 fairly quickly)

These are basically some quizzes about promoted coins after watching a few short videos. You just need an account with coinbase and about 20 minutes if you want to go through all the coins. It can be done easily on their app

If you decide to make an account, ask a friend for a referral link. There is an incentive ($10 BTC for your friend if you sign up and buy/sell $100 in crypto) for your friend, and that will bring me to the next option.

4. Referrals (limited by the service terms)

Companies want more customers, so most of them offer incentives for friends of new users through discounts, payouts, or other offers like commission.

Just ask your friends about crypto, and if they use something that makes them money, ask for a referral code. You'll be doing them a favor, and you might get something cool too. If your friend doesn't have crypto, you are introducing them to the future of currency, so no harm done.

5. BRAVE Browser (earn crypto for surfing the internet)

BRAVE pays users in BAT (Basic Attention Token) for watching ads. These ads are not the standard ads because BRAVE actually blocks those ads and replaces them with their own. Here is a detailed article on how it works on a deeper level.

6. Donations (unlimited potential)

If you have a website, business, or you have a way for people to see something in the real world, some of them may want to support you to do whatever it is you do. A simple link to your wallet address is easy to post, and it'll be there for as long as you want it to.

7. Reddit Moons (changing criteria)

Moons is unique to /r/CryptoCurrency and it is generally given out for Upvotes/Karma. Be sure to read the changing rules before you post, and play by them please. For example, I tried to post a picture of my new hardware wallet this week and it was removed because I wasn't allowed to post that sort of material until the weekend. This is why you see so many memes this weekend.

The rules are always changing, and you can vote for the rules you want for the month. Part of having a decentralized currency is getting to vote on how it should work.

That's all I got folks!

If you've read this far, thank you. Please feel free to add onto this list if I missed something cool that beginners can try out. Hopefully this is enough information to get anyone started on at least having a little bit of crypto, and in doing so, maybe even creating their first wallet.

submitted by /u/ogonga
[link] [comments]Kind Regards R
