Klarna - possible 2022 IPO

It's a Swedish fintech company aimed at making payments smooth and they have literally taken over Sweden the past few years, I've even seen some US companies use them. My question however, how does payments really work for the average American? I have never been in the US and have no idea on how you handle payments over there, what payment apps are you using when you buy from your go-to ecommerce places?
