Coins vs tokens. What’s the difference?

I see these 2 terms confused a lot and if you didn’t know, these 2 words have very different meanings which I’ll be explaining now.

Coins are cryptocurrencies that have their own ecosystem. For example, Cardano, Ethereum, bitcoin, etc. are all coins because they have their own blockchain and don’t depend on other blockchains.

Tokens on the other hand are currencies built on other currencies’ blockchain. For example, USDT is built on ethereum blockchain which means it’s a token of ethereum network.

Hope this clarifies it a bit

submitted by /u/ThrowAway0183910
[link] [comments]Kind Regards R
