What Cryptocurrency should you be mining with a GPU?

Hello,
 
I have a Radeon R9 280x and I would like to use it to mine while I am not gaming. Knowing that mining BTC and most altcoins ins't profitable anymore due to the ASIC miners.
What would you suggest I mine with my GPU? And what program should I use to mine it? Should I keep the coins and trade them in for BTC later on?

What you do with the coin you mine is up to you. Some multipools cash the coins you might right away and give you BTC. I don't have a list of multipools in front of me but you can search google for crypto multipools.

Also you can mine whatever with a GPU. That link isn't the only multipool. One of the hardest things for people to decide is which coin to mine. Everyone will have a different answer.Kind Regards R

That said, just to give my 2 cents, I'd select a cryptocurrency upon three criteria:
1) Most important: it must be ASICS-resistant. If you want to profit from your GPU (or CPU) you must not get pawned by an ASIC box. Not today and possibly not tomorrow.

2) Secondly: good if it's young. It makes little sense to start mining a cryptocurrency with diminishing rewards when it's already old.

3) Third: as a personal preference, I'd select an algo which is solid but not already too common.

A good example may be Kryptohash ( https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=881427.0) for the three points above: it's using a new, yet solid protocol (which has choosen by the NIST to become the new SHA-3), it's still in its prime, and has good asics-countering features.Kind Regards R
