Investing for the metaverse? Are Facebook and Unity the big winners?

Hi folks,

I have been debating with myself for the last week if all the recent news around Facebook building a Meta-verse already priced in, or it is too early for investors to realize the big picture and potential upside of that?

Following a few recent articles article#1 and article#2 and also all the progress they have been making about making Oculus more affordable, it seems that they are planning to spend a lot of $$$ on this in the next few years.

On the other hand we also have Unity working in the same direction article#3 and article#4. I wouldn't be surprised if they team up with Facebook to accelerate the growth and absolutely dominate the market. They would have both the capital and the technology to be the first and the best.

I am trying to stay away from the negative sentiment towards FB right now around all the politics around all the social platforms, I am aware that can have a very negative impact towards the short terms stock price, but looking at the big picture it is probably not going to hurt them too much.

In the same time we have all the climate changes, possible economic crises coming in the next years, that could make life much tougher for the lower and middle class, which would make escaping into a meta-verse, a very tempting solution for millions of people... Quite much looking like the plots of Ready Player One and Snow Crash.

What do you think? Am I missing something? Of course this is not an investment for big $$$ tomorrow or next year, I am thinking more around a 3-7 year horizon.

submitted by /u/icaka_bate
[link] [comments]Kind Regards R
