How did moon supply increase before distribution?

Mistery Solved:

u/PrinceZero1994 got it right. It's confirmed by mod u/IHaventEvenGotADog. So basically these "new moons" are not really new. They are part of the last distribution and belong to users who still didn't have their vault open. Because they are opening their vault now, their moons are being minted, thus supply increases.

Original post:

I asked this on the daily but nobody answered, so I'll create a post hoping someone knows.

So, after last rounds distribution the moon supply was at almost 100M. A few thousand left to hit the mark.

But now we at 100,004,923.

I thought new moons were only created once per month for the moon distribution and that was the only time and only reason new moons would be created.

I don't understand where this few thousand came from. Am I missing something? Are new moons created for other reasons than monthly distribution?

Thanks!

EDIT: now at 100,005,294

submitted by /u/RealVoldemort
[link] [comments]
