simple way to not get scammed: "Don't let someone else initiate"

YOU INITIATE EVERY TRANSACTION

Repeat after me: Don't let anyone else initiate your transactions.

What does this mean?

It means if you are going to do a transaction, you always initiate with the trusted source. This can be applied anywhere in life.

If the bank rings you and says you need to do a transaction, you thank them and say you will do it. Then phone your banks phone number directly and ask about the matter they called you about. If they don't know, then you just dodged a scam, if they do know, then you continue with the transaction you need to do (the original phone call you received was legit).

Someone DMs you asking you to follow a link and to do things to get some kind of deal, you go to the source. I actually nearly fell for one the other day but dodged it due to following this principle; I really wanted to get into chain link staking but was too late and the pool filled up. A couple of weeks later I got tagged in a post saying that the pool was back open with a link. I followed the link and I could see the cap had just been increased and there was now space! I was super excited because I was like "Yus! this is only just reopened so I'll be go to get in this time before it fills up ?"

There was a connect your wallet button so I could have done it right there and then before it was too late, but I remembered I didn't initiate.

So to initiate I went to chainlink's Twitter to find the announcement. But there was no announcement.. odd. I then went to their website directly and it showed the pool was still full... Ah! This is a scam, damnit they got my hopes up! But at least they didn't get my money.

YOU INITIATE EVERY TIME.

Never allow anyone else ever initiate a transaction.

Tell this to your parents too, for the love of god

submitted by /u/KurtiZ_TSW
[link] [comments]
