Can't Tether be forced to be Audited?

In the U.S - if there's a small suspicion of manipulating stockmarket, inside trading, ponzy schemes or such, the FBI and SEC are all over it in a second

Everyone in the crypto world rightfully suspect that Tether is not fully backed and manipulates the crypto market.

90% of Tether's terms of service is saying that "investors" should know their money is in constant risk and they are not to be blamed whatever happens.

Millions of U.S citizens and worldwide users hold and use USDT and the day this house of cards fails, these users will be left with 0$ and their money basically stolen + there will be an earthquake in the crypto world that will affect everyone since its the 3rd most traded asset and one of the only ways people use to trade BTC / ETH.

With all that information known to all, Tether refuse to be officially audited and probably there is a reason for that.

being a online hero knowing something bad going to happen is not enough, we as a large community might have the power to do something about it

I don't know logistically how it can be done but this subreddit alone have 1 Million members, can't we all sign some online petition and contact relevant U.S authorities with this concern so maybe for once authorities will work in our favor and check / investigate / force Tether to be audited to verify if they do or do not have this money backed before everything blows up in our faces?

Kind Regards R
