The Early Days of the Internet vs. The Early Days of Crypto

There's a lot of FOMO going around but take solace in the fact that crypto is still just burgeoning. </p> <p>If you're here, you're doing great. You're ahead of the curve. Take a deep breath. </p> <p>The crypto game is full of big ups and downs. </p> <p>Don't FOMO, just get in and HODL. </p> <p>In the early days of the internet, I <em>knew</em> it was going to be a huge thing. Too young to take advantage, I watched the dot com boom and bust happen before my eyes. Many got rich but the greediest ended up broke. </p> <p>I remember telling my family "<em>You know how there are 1-800 numbers on the bottom of ads? They are going to be replaced with websites."</em></p> <p>I was told <strong>"That's only for computer nerds".</strong> </p> <p>Today? </p> <p>As you know, almost everyone carries around a computer in their pocket and the web is very much a daily part of life. </p> <p>There are many parallels to cryptocurrency today. <em>It feels the same</em>. For those like us already in, it feels like we're already there. Things are just getting started. </p> <p>It's early. The vast majority of people (even those who have heard of it) don't really get it. </p> <p>There's going to be lots of winners and losers, just like back then. Many will make a temporary fortune only to let greed take it away from them. Learn. The more you understand the technology behind it, the more you can feel secure in what you choose to invest in.</p> <p>I feel confident in crypto because the world is turning digital in all aspects. The same gut feeling I had about the internet is how I feel about crypto. The coins I own <em>I believe in</em>. Do I want to make money? Absolutely. Only buy crypto you believe in and vibes with your gut feeling. </p> <p>This may seem like a silly example but stay with me. Let's take your average young hooligan like I was in my youth. </p> <p>In my day, you exchanged cash for weed. Nowadays, it's cash app or venmo. Analog to digital.</p> <p>We smoked cigarettes. Kids these days vape. Analog to digital.</p> <p>We wrote notes and talked on house phones to flirt. Kids now text, snapchat and who knows what else. Analog to digital. </p> <p>There's a million examples like this and the world is turning digital. </p> <p>Money was saved with savings bonds, gold, and cash hidden. Enter crypto. </p> <p>As each passing generation becomes more "digital", they likewise will embrace new technology.</p> <p>I don't know nearly as much about crypto as many of you young people here but I recommend learning as much as you can, investing in the one(s) you believe in and holding your position. </p> <p>Like many of us, I've had to sell <em>a lot</em> of Crypto to make ends meet. Every bit of it I wish I still owned today. </p> <p>The more adoption comes and crypto becomes more mainstream, there can be a lot of pressure to sell or trade for an "up and coming" coin.
