Are tokens really needed?

I own around 10 various ETH tokens and every once in a while I start asking myself do they have a future in crypto. And then I have inner battles whether to sell all of them or not.

So the primary use case of token seems to be to fund the team and to give something back to the investors so they feel like thet just didn't donate money. In most cases this token is useless.

Then we have some projects that claim that ETH is currently not scaleable and if everyone used just ETH the network would be slow as shit. Which seems like a current issue but doesn't have to be an issue in the future.

So if you had a scalable ultrafast main chain would you even need a token?

Couldn't you just use ETH instead of BAT when tipping, instead of REP or LINK when reporting, instead of MANA when buying land...

Kind Regards R
