Securing paper wallet

I purchased some bitcoins using a ATM paper wallet. I imported it into Electrum (didn't sweep) and sent the balance somewhere else, so it's empty atm.

If I wanted to use this address to receive coins, is there an extra step needed to secure this? Presumably the ATM vendor has my private key somewhere in the system. Is there some way to permanently take over this wallet, make sure it's still valid, etc?

Kind Regards R
