I get that moons have value and they represent a karma system, but... why?

I kept my recovery seed safe and went on my way. </p> <p>Then I learned more about moons. But I don't see any other subreddit a using a similar system. Why not?</p> <p>And where does the value come from? Is it purely from the automated market maker on the dex where they are sold? </p> <p>Getting moons is exciting, but at the same time I'm a little confused as to their purpose. </p> <p>Basically I need some full blown background on what the heck is going on. Links to other posts or articles is fine if it's already been explained.
