We should stop using TPS as the metric. A better number is SPS: Settlements Per Seco

I think the word "transaction" is being interpreted by different people in different ways. For example, some chains are counting consensus votes as "transactions" when really they shouldn't be. </p> <p>Other coins like Algo, calculate this more fairly. For example, Algo will do a 1000 verifications of the proposed block, before the transaction is settled. And appropriately, that isn't counted towards their TPS.</p> <p>SPS is a better term, because it more accurately reflects the throughput that end-users are expecting.
