As an Argentinian, I heavily doubt the stablecoin they're planning will help us out
<!-- SC_OFF --><div class="md"><p>Some of you might've seen the news that an US-pegged stablecoin is being planned by the Argentinian government to deal with some of the insane inflation and economic problems plaguing our country. Which might be a nice sentiment and effort were it not for a few things.</p> <p>Number one, our government is incredibly inept. Whether the peronists or the macrists, none of them have a clue how to run our country and that has become clear with how insanely devalued our coin has become. We're on our way to match Venezuela in that regard.</p> <p>Second, a stable coin gives the government the opportunity to mint a coin and distribute them amongst themselves with the pegged value they set up, making it a prime opportunity for corruption, which my country is famous for.</p> <p>Not to mention the idea just reeks of FTX but this time done by a government, which is even worse. All around, I think it's a terrible idea and if anything it's gonna make our situation worse than it already is.</p> <p>So pray for us if you can.
