Friend says investing in stocks is better than crypto

I love crypto because it's fast and it's the only international currency available in my country. But as an investment, i'm really not sure what's best in the long run. I'm a bit skeptical when it comes to crypto because it's so fragile. Any news can affect it and you are more likely to lose your money overnight than stocks.
