International investing (VTIAX)

I’ve decided to transfer my retirement account into my own control and invest in index funds myself (instead of through an advisor who charges fees). I want to expose myself to international funds for long term investing. Specifically, I want to put about 20% of my retirement into VTIAX. I’m nervous because I’ve been told that international brings on massive tax concerns (USA-based investor) Is there anything I should be considering before going into international index funds like this?

submitted by /u/wilso4jm
[link] [comments]
