ANYONE know if a DEALER is allowed to buy and hold stocks, act as swing/day traders?

So I know dealers profit by making a market, put up a bid and ask and profit from the bid and ask spread.</p> <p>Dealers buy and sell stocks on their own accord and put up their own money. So this is where my question comes in:</p> <p>Do DEALERS also buy and hold stocks or maybe even day trade them when they want? Do they say, invest/swing trade stocks on a whim when they want too? Say a dealer buys 100k shares of $IMMP.
