I'm extremely unexcited about the metaverse
<!-- SC_OFF --><div class="md"><p>I don't really see the appeal - outside of gaming at least - and every example I've seen has convinced me my opinion is correct. Rather than be a utopia of tech and creativity, I think it's just going to be a branded hellscape where Nike invests millions to sell you shoes you don't need, but digitally.</p> <p>Take this example from Ceek and H&M where they've partnered up to create an alternate version of an H&M store, that's somehow significantly worse than an already poor chain store. </p> <p><a href="https://youtu.be/QpdzaBvD0iI">https://youtu.be/QpdzaBvD0iI</a></p> <p>Absolutely no-one has any faith in Mark Zuckerberg to act ethically, or even remotely like a human would, so his balls-deep involvement gives me the fear. </p> <p>Anyways, that's my two cents.
