The FIFA World Cup x Crypto.com announcement was posted on the biggest football subr

Disclaimer: I am absolutely against the morals and activities involved in hosting the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

As probably many of you here, I am a big football fan and I frequent the biggest football subreddit, which ironically is not named football, because America and Europe and stuff.

Anyway, it's a very good subreddit for football/soccer but my god, whenever the slightest news piece regarding crypto is brought up, it becomes a cold war, but it mostly consists of people who know nothing about crypto, agreeing with each other in a very angry manner.

So, the recent news of Crypto.com sponsoring the 2022 World Cup in Qatar was posted and that post was a dumpster fire. Here's the two reasons behind it:

This is probably the most controversial World Cup in recent times. It is hosted in Qatar, a country with.... controversial morals and rules. It is reported that many workers have died in the construction of stadiums. There are a ton of other reasons why this World Cup is built on bribes and blood but I am not qualified to expand further.

Crypto is massively hated in any non-crypto related subreddit.

So, having said all this, I have seen many gems on that thread that I wanted to share with you. My personal favorite being that crypto.com is a "ponzi scheme company". Calling cryptocurrencies a ponzi scheme is a take I can understand, but a multi-billion dollar company? Hmm

Another gem was when a poor soul had genuinely no idea what crypto is and when he posed the question, a very wise individual replied with "it is very complicated but watch this" and proceeded to link a video which dumps on NFTs for an hour.

Of course, the primetime argument was that crypto is destroying the environment, which is a reasonable take, but still not 100% true.

So according to these well aware individuals, crypto = NFTs. Crypto = ponzi scheme. Crypto is destroying the environment. Crypto.com is the devil.

Well, some of you may find this as kind of a rant mixed with laughter but all I have to say is this. Most of the people who are still mad about crypto, are either completely unaware of how modern financial services systems work, have no idea about the benefits of decentralization, or have missed out on buying before 2020.

We're still early.

It takes way more energy and resources to refute bullsh%t than what it takes to create it.

submitted by /u/DerpJungler
[link] [comments]Kind Regards R
