Nuclear energy, being carbon free and power rich, is ideal to mine Bitcoin with.

Enough with the talk that Bitcoin needs to change from proof of work (PoW) to proof of stake (PoS) to be environmentally friendly. Forgetting about the issue of PoS for a moment, it’s not the Bitcoin code that needs to change, it’s the energy sources that need improving.

At the core of Bitcoin mining is energy and energy infrastructure, for semi-obvious reasons coal and fossil fuels are the worse source due to CO2 emissions and there being a limited supply - wind and solar are better because they are more abundant but not the best due to their intermittency (it’s not always windy and not always sunny).

Nuclear is both stable (not intermittent) and carbon free! It is the largest source of carbon-free electricity in the United States and protects air quality by generating electricity without other harmful pollutants like nitrogen oxide, sulfur dioxide, particulate matter or mercury.

Nuclear has the highest capacity factor compared to any other energy source - and has historically caused considerably less deaths compared to climate and air quality side effects of coal and fossil foil burning!

People fear nuclear energy because they don’t understand it, they think the plant will explode and spread radiation like a Chernobyl or Fukushima - they just think ‘atom bomb’ and leaky barrels of green goo and say no way - although the health and deaths related to all summed nuclear incidence are nowhere near those related to collective and continued fossil fuel burning!!!

Tldr; We don’t need to change Bitcoins algorithm to go green; we need to find more efficient cleaner safer energy sources, and nuclear is a really good answer when looked at in a scientific and environmental light.

submitted by /u/Jxntb733
[link] [comments]Kind Regards R
