Please Practice Opsec

Please practice OPSEC on your crypto and digital lives. I've seen numerous posts in the past about crypto wallets, 2FA, passwords, passphrases and security keys. I read every post about the topic because I want to learn something new on the subject that will help me. One thing that isn't mentioned enough when it comes to security, is protecting yourself from yourself! It's brutal. Read along if you don't want to be that guy in the landfill, and please comment and add any additional tips for us all.

DELETE YOUR WALLET

When you first setup your wallet, copy that seed phrase, on paper, not digitally, send a small test transaction, then wipe the device, or delete the app and then try to recover the wallet using your seed phrase. You should practice this with all new wallets and devices. It would suck having all your crypto stored somewhere, and not being able to access it.

2FA

Secure email, apps, etc. with 2FA. Download a 2FA app of your choice and set it up. I would suggest downloading it on a backup device as well. Now delete it. Practice downloading it again and accessing it by your password or phone number you chose to register it to.

CRYPTO APPS AND EXCHANGES

Practice getting locked out of these accounts. Delete them, sign back in them. Get comfortable doing the process. You don't want to have all your dry powder sitting on an exchange, and not be able to access it, because you locked yourself out.

PASS PHRASES and SECURITY KEYS

Keep it safe. People on here have beat the topic ad nauseam, so I wont. Just keep it safe, however you choose to do so.

Anything you have a password attached to, practice getting locked out. Get comfortable with the process. Protect yourself from yourself.

submitted by /u/roarroar6767
[link] [comments]
