Why is US inflation numbers not pushing more people into cryptocurrencies?

On some base level my logic for getting into crypto was seeing how much money the federal reserve was printing and the ever increased government spending. The idea was always, “well surely this will lead to inflation and a decrease in the purchasing power of a US dollar, so hey crypto hedges against that so let’s try it.”

So the thesis has proved correct and now inflation has risen and sure enough the dollar buys less… but why isn’t crypto being turned to as a safe harbor? I mean if I was a uber wealthy person right now I would not have a ton of trust in the power of the US dollar and would certainly be looking for alternatives.

submitted by /u/joelsaucedo
[link] [comments]
