Here is the problem with that statement. EVERYTHING will die one day. There is no single country, company, stock, bond, crypto, or anything that will stay around until the end of time.

The point of the game isn't even trying to get what will stay around the longest. It is more about what will make you the most within your lifetime or the next generation. Maybe even what will make the most in the next few years.

For example, the Dutch East India Co. holds the distinction of being the first company to offer equity shares of its business to the public, effectively conducting the world's first initial public offering (IPO). It also played an integral role in modern history's first stock market crash.

source: https://www.investopedia.com/ask/answers/08/first-company-issue-stock-dutch-east-india.asp

But it died in 1800 when it went bankrupt.

https://preview.redd.it/0ys1y0bdmau91.png?width=602&format=png&auto=webp&s=c71682fbf094e7b78233f5d054fb908b0e9c095e

Dutch East company stock price 1723–1788

Only a fool or someone who doesn't know their history really thinks their investment, company, the land they own, etc will win against the test of time.

Basically listing to these people for me at least is like hearing the commercial on how some anti-virus made a computer run 100% better. That means it turned on the computer. It makes no logical sense, and it just shows the person is stupid and pushing some agenda on people they can trick.

submitted by /u/crua9
[link] [comments]
