ETH is now deflationary since the merge

As of 00:29 supply change since merge is -0.18 ETH

Due to the increased volatility today, gas fees have once again shot up. This has caused far more ETH to be burnt than we usually see.

By looking at ultrasound.money you can see there was a sharp decrease in the ETH supply today. Before that supply had seen a sizeable reduction, ever since Oct 8th, but had started to increase again recently.

With DeFi liquidations and people rushing to withdraw the crypto from centralised exchanges, gas fees could be high for the next few days.

The top ETH burners in the last 24 hours are Uniswap V3 at 500 ETH, ETH Transfers at 320 ETH and Tether at 307 ETH. All together 4,600 ETH, or $6.1 million worth of ETH has been burnt in the last 24 hours.

Edit 1: Supply is now down 110 ETH since merge. If this rate continued annual deflation would be at -0.89%.

submitted by /u/olihowells
[link] [comments]
